Slipknot is a metal band formed in U.S. Des Moines, Iowa. It consists of nine members, they currently Sid Wilson, Joey Jordison, Donnie Steele, Chris Fehn, Jim Root, Craig Jones, Shawn Crahan, Mick Thomson and Corey Taylor. The alignment of the band remained unchanged from 1999 to 2010. Each member uses a different mask.
The band was formed in 1995 and underwent several line-up changes after the release of independent disk Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. in 1996. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1999 and was followed by Iowa in 2001 and Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses) in 2004. The August 25, 2008, the band released their fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at No. 1 in the table the U.S. Billboard 200. The band has released four DVDs including Disasterpieces in 2002, which was certified quadruple platinum in the United States. On May 24, 2010, the band lost their bassist Paul Gray. Paul was found dead in a hotel room from an overdose of morphine. The band ruled on May 25, one day after his death, there were all these band members, and Brenna (Paul's wife) and Tony Gray, brother of Paul.
The band's style has been described as heavy metal, nu metal, alternative metal, thrash metal, crossover thrash, hardcore punk and rap metal.
